Hello Crafty Friends! Yay! It’s Papertrey Ink’s October Release Day! This month’s release is packed with ornaments, bells, windows, snowmen, angles and so many more festive goodies for holiday crafting!
For today’s card, I’m featuring the Hang The Lights Die and Stencil Collection, This Is Big: XL Merry Christmas, paired with one of my staple In Frames: Big & Tall Rectangles Die Collection.
To begin, I die cut a white cardstock panel using the rectangle frame from the In Frames: Big & Tall Rectangles Die Collection. The die cuts two separate pieces- a frame and a stitched rectangle. I adhered the frame to a 4 7/8″ x 5 7/8″ white cardstock panel using double sided foam tape for added dimension. Next, I stamped “May Your Holidays Be Bright” from This Is Big Sentimnets: XL Christmas in Pure Poppy ink along the bottom of the stitched rectangle and adhered it inside the frame.
I die cut the branch and greenery from white cardstock and ink blended them with Gathered Twigs, Mowed Lawn, and Pine Needles Distress Oxides. For the berries, I used Festive Berries and Lumberjack Distress Oxides. The string was die cut with black cardstock.
To create the dimensional ornaments, I first die cut the ornament toppers from silver metallic cardstock. Next, I die cut nine ornament shapes from 80 lb white cardstock and used the coordinating stencils to create three different festive patterns with the inks listed below. For each pattern, I stenciled both the front and back of the ornament so the design would be visible when folded.
I then scored two matching pieces down the center, folded them in half, and adhered them to a third, unfolded piece to create a fun 3D effect. I chose lighter weight cardstock to make the ornaments easier to fold.
Once all the pieces were ready, I arranged and adhered everything to the card front, finishing with a sprinkling of clear sequins for a little sparkle!
