CHALKBOARD BUGS WITH PRETTY PINK POSH

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Pretty Pink Posh’s Instagram Hop week! Today I’m sharing a teacher appreciation card that could easily work as a sweet friendship card, too. The chalkboard-inspired background instantly made me think of a classroom blackboard, making it the perfect backdrop for this design. I created this card using the adorable Stitched Bugs set, Checkered Pierced Plate, Cute Bugs set, Hello Friend, and the Apple Shaker Die from Pretty Pink Posh’s latest release.

To start, I die cut a pierced background panel from A2 white cardsetock using the Checkered Pierced Plate. Next, I trimmed a 4 3/4″ x 3 5/8″ panel from black cardstock and softly blended with white dye ink over the surface. I lightly heat set the ink, then stamped the flowers, grass, and motion lines from Cute Bugs and Hello Friend with Versamark ink to create a fun chalkboard doodles effect. I finished the panel with white heat embossing and layered it over the the pierced background.

Next, I die cut the apple using the Apple Shaker Die, and the worm and caterpillar from the Stitched Bugs set. I ink blended all of the pieces using the following Distress Oxide Inks:

Apple– Candied Apple, Aged Mahogany
Stem– Gathered Twigs, Antique Linen
Leaves– Mowed Lawn, Twisted Citron
Flower– Kitsch Flamingo, Spun Sugar, Squeezed Lemonade, Mustard Seed
Worm– Kitsch Flamingo, Spun Sugar
Caterpillar– Kitsch Flamingo, Spun Sugar, Carved Pumpkin, Mustard Seed, Squeezed Lemonade, Mowed Lawn, Twisted Citron, Peacock Feathers, Wilted Violet, Shaded Lilac

I adhered the images onto the front of the card and finished it off with a black stamped “Hugs For You!” sentiment on white cardstock from Hello Friend.
