BUILD-A-CHRISTMAS TREE WITH PAPERTREY INK

Hello Crafty Friends! Today, I’m sharing a holiday card featuring the Build-A-Christmas Tree set from Papertrey Ink’s latest release. This set is so versatile, you can create trees in any color palette and mix and match the ornaments for endless combinations.

I started by white heat embossing a snowy background onto both a white and a navy panel using the Cascading Dots Hot Foil Plate.

For the navy panel, I splattered some white acrylic paint for added “snow.” I die cut an oval window into the white panel and inked the edges with Blueprint Sketch and Tumbled Glass Distress Oxides. I rounded the corner edges with a corner punch. I adhered the white panel over the navy to create a frosty, wintry backdrop and set it aside.

To make the tree, I die cut three layers:

• White cardstock, inked around the edges with Spun Sugar Distress Oxide and brushed with glitter on the branches
• Sweet Blush cardstock
• Vellum

I then die cut the trunk and star from Gold Metallic Cardstock.

For the teardrop shaped ornaments, I used white cardstock and inked blended them with Kitsch Flamingo and Salvaged Patina, adding snow to the tops for a frosted look.

For the clear round ornaments, I created a mini shaker style:

• The backs were cut from white cardstock with a circle die from my stash
• The fronts were cut from acetate
• I adhered pastel confetti to the bases before sealing them with acetate tips
• I added white bows to finished them off

I assembled the tree, adhered it to the background, and added gold enamel dots and a gold embossed sentiment “May Your Everything Be Merry and Bright” from the set.
