Hello Crafty Friends! Today, I am sharing another card for the Lawn Fawnatics Challenge #175 Summertime Fun – show your favourite critters on vacation.
For this Challenge, I was inspired by a train holiday. I have never been on a train holiday and it is always something that I wanted to do. Hopefully, I will be able to experience a vacation via train but in the meantime, these critters are all aboard on their adventure!
To start, I die cut a stitched border around A2 White Cardstock using the largest rectangle from Large Stitched Rectangle Stackables. I then added a cloudy sky by ink blending Salty Ocean Distress Oxide using the Cloudy Stencil.
I die cut a mountain background using Stitched Mountain Borders. I ink blended the mountains with Hickory Smoke Distress Oxide and splattered some of the distress oxide mixed with water for texture. I added some glitter on the mountain tops using Stickles.
Next, I die cut the grass using Grassy Border. I masked off the area for the railroad ballast with some scrap paper. I ink blended the grass with Mowed Lawn Distress Oxide. I stamped some grass onto the panel with a grass stamp from Mom + Me and added some texture using Copic Markers listed below.
I masked off the grass area using scrap paper and ink blended the railroad ballast ground with Tea Dye Distress Oxide. I added some details using Copic Markers listed below.

To make the train, I die cut all the pieces for the Gumball Machine and turned the Gumball Machine upside down. I ink blended the body of the Gumball Machine with Aged Mahogany and Festive Berries Distress Oxides. I added the following details for the train:
- Headlights (Circle Stackables, Windows from Build-A-House Beach Add-On), ink blended with Carved Pumpkin and Squeezed Lemonade Distress Oxides
- Cowcatcher/Pilot (The canopy from Build-A-House Beach Add-On), ink blended with Black Soot Distress Oxide
- Carriage (I rounded the corners on the square from the second smallest Stitched Square Frames), ink blended with Festive Berries Distress Oxide
The train tracks were made using the easel in Canvas and Easel. I die cut the easel out of Woodgrain Cardstock- Light Brown and used the bottom for the track. I added another “sleeper” on the bottom of the track using a strip trimmed out of the same cardstock.
I die cut some trees from Build-A-Campsite and ink blended with Mowed Lawn and Rustic Wilderness Distress Oxides.
I added some cloud frames using Simple Puffy Cloud Frames and I used the inside clouds for the smoke. I coloured the edges of the smoke with Copic Markers listed below and added some glitter.
I finished off the card with a White Heat Embossed Sentiment from Car Critters Road Trip Add-On.
The Challenge is open until Sunday, June 30th at 11:59PM ET. All entries will have a chance to receive a $50 Lawn Fawn gift card and you will also have a chance to be featured in the Lawn Fawnatics Blog!

I think the trees were from Forest Backdrop
Hi Jackie, yes you are correct, my oversight.
