Hello Crafty Friends! It’s time for a new Challenge at Lawn Fawnatics! Challenge #168 is All Things Birthday! It’s Lawn Fawn’s 14th birthday this month (coincidentally, mine too but I am not turning 14 :))…For this Challenge, I created a birthday cake card with the platform pop up featuring the Cake Slice die.
To start, I die cut the platform using paper from Rainbow Ever After Petite Paper Pack. I then die cut the standing backdrop and cloud wrap around out of White Cardstock. I used the Balloons Stencil to ink blend some colourful confetti on the standing backdrop and some balloons on the cloud wrap around.
I added another layer of the cloud wrap around with vellum and hot foiled some fireworks along the bottom edges. I Gold Heat Embossed “Wish Big” on the front center of the vellum cloud wrap.

To make the cake slice, I die cut the cake bottom of the Cake Slice Box die out of paper from Rainbow Ever After Petite Paper Pack. I shortened the length by trimming off the last two notches at the end and the top notches (marked in red). I then trimmed off the triangle area marked in blue.
Cake Bottom (trim out the middle triangle marked with the blue lines, trim off the notches marked with red)

I die cut the top of the cake top out of White Cardstock (80lb). I scored and made a fold down the center (marked in blue). I then used a paper cutting knife and made three slots ( black x’s) for the candle and sparklers. I shortened the length by trimming off the last two notches and the notches on top (marked in red).
Cake Top (score along the blue lines and use craft knife to make slots on the areas marked with black “xxxx, ” trim off the notches marked with red “xxxx” )

I adhered some colourful sprinkles onto the top and front side of the cake top. I die cut another cake top and trimmed off the scalloped edges for “icing” and adhered it to the end of cake slice.
I ink blended the candle with Spun Sugar and Kirsch Flamingo Distress Oxides. I ink blended the flame with Squeezed Lemonade and Dried Marigold Distress Oxides. I added some sparklers using hot foiled fireworks on vellum.
I stamped the mouse, birthday hat, and ladder and die cut with the coordinating dies. I coloured the images with Copic Markers listed below.

The Challenge is open until Sunday, March 17th at 11:59PM ET. All entries will have a chance to receive a $50 Lawn Fawn gift card and you will also have a chance to be featured in the Lawn Fawnatics Blog!
