Happy New Year Crafty Friends! I wish you and your families a healthy and happy 2023! The first Lawn Fawnatics Challenge of the year is Challenge #140- Let’s Celebrate! As this year’s Lunar New Year begins on January 22nd, I wanted to create a Lunar New Year card. This year’s Lunar New Year celebrates the Year of the Rabbit. I thought the Rabbits in the Eggstar Amazing Easter set and the fortune cookies in Year Eight would make a cute Lunar New Year card.
To start, I ink blended two pieces of A2 White Cardstock with Picked Raspberry, Spun Sugar, and Tattered Rose Distress Oxide starting with the darkest color on the bottom. I die cut one one piece with the largest frame from Stitched Rectangle Frames and the second piece with Fancy Lattice Backdrop. I adhered the Fancy Lattice Backdrop piece onto A2 White Cardstock and set it aside.
I made the fortune cookie jar out of the jar in How You Bean? I stamped and die cut the jar, adhered acetate onto the open area on jar (outer layer). I coloured it with Copic Markers listed below. For the background of the jar, I used Strawberry Frosting paper.
I stamped and die cut the cute rabbits and fortune cookies and coloured the images with Copic Markers listed below. Next, I adhered some fortune cookies and added some shaker elements onto the background of the jar. I attached the outer layer of the jar onto the background with foam tape. I added some Chinese Knots and tassels using the yarn stamp from Bath Humbug and the broom stamp from Booyah. I tied some pink baker’s twine around the top of the jar.
I made the fortune by stamping part of the sentiment from Fortune Teller Tabby and the part from Let’s Bookah. I finished off the card with a White Heat Embossed “Happy New Year” sentiment, some iridescent bubbles, and adhered the Stitched Rectangle Frame on top.
The Challenge is open until Sunday, January 15th at 11:59PM ET. All entries will have a chance to win a $50 Lawn Fawn gift certificate and you will also have a chance to be featured in the Lawn Fawnatics Blog!
Thank you so much for stopping by. Wishing everyone good fortune in the Year of the Rabbit!
