Hello Crafty Friends! Today, I am sharing a mirror image card created with Lawn Fawn Penguins. I have always been in awe with Christmas cards featuring reflections on ice and was inspired to create one myself. This is my first time creating an ice reflections card so there was a lot of trial and error involved 🙂
To start, I stamped penguin 1 from Toboggan Together near the centre of a piece of 4.25″ x 5.5″ white card stock. I turned the card upside down and stamped penguin 1 again without re-inking the stamp creating penguin 2. Next, I stamped penguin 3 from Winter Penguin onto the left side and slightly above penguin 1 in the centre. I turned the card upside down again and stamped penguin 3 on the lefthand side and slightly above penguin 1 without re-inking the stamp creating penguin 4.

For penguins 5 and 6, I used the mirror image stamping technique with the Ink on 3 Mirror Image Clear Stamp. The back of any large stamp will also work. I gently inked the penguin and stamped it onto the Mirror Image Clear Stamp using the Misti Stamping Platform with the bottom foam removed. I used a small amount of pressure when stamping. If you use too much pressure, too much ink will transfer and it will result in blotting.

I removed some ink with a tissue. The amount of ink left should just be a light outline.

I removed the stamp and gently stamped penguin 5 and repeated for penguin 6. I was not too worried about the lighter image for penguin 5 as it would be coloured. For penguin 5, I went over the lighter areas with a black multi-liner (0.2mm).
I colored the penguins and reflections with Copics (see list below). For the ice, I masked the three penguins and lightly ink blended Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide Ink onto the reflections. I drew in horizontal lines with a White Gelly Roll pen. I added snowflakes and snowfall using the Snowflake Stencil and the Snowfall Stencil with White Stencil Paste. Once dried, I removed the penguin masks.
For the sentiment, I made two die cuts from the Merry Script using white card stock and red glitter card stock. I glued the two layers together. I finished off the card by adding “Christmas” embossed onto a black strip of paper.
Thanks so much for stopping by today and I wish you and your families a wonderful holiday season!
